Singapura dakwa VEP yang bakal dikenakan Malaysia bersifat diskriminasi

Memberikan respons terhadap penetapan bayaran Permit Masuk Kenderaan (VEP) sebanyak S$7.16 (RM20) mulai 1 Oktober ini yang bakal dikenakan oleh Malaysia ke atas kenderaan berdaftar di luar negara melalui Johor, Kementerian Pengangkutan (MOT) Singapura berkata ia adalah bersifat diskriminasi.

Menurut laporan yang disiarkan oleh Channel NewsAsia (CNA), MOT Singapura akan turut mempertimbangkan untuk mengenakan levi dalam beberapa bentuk supaya sepadan, selepas mengkaji pelaksanaannya.

Malah pihak negara berkenaan juga telah meminta maklumat lebih lanjut dari pihak berkuasa Malaysia mengenai keperluan bagi kenderaan Singapura untuk melakukan prapendaftaran sebelum memasuki Malaysia.

Baru-baru ini, Timbalan Menteri Pengangkutan, Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi, pendaftaran ini adalah mandatori, yang telah bermula di dalam talian mulai 15 Ogos ini, diaplikasikan untuk semua kenderaan persendirian, bas awam, teksi, kenderaan barangan termasuk kereta para diplomat.

CNA turut memetik jurucakap MOT sebagai berkata “apa-apa kos dan ketidakselesaan boleh mendorong rakyat Singapura untuk tidak melawat Malaysia, terutama Johor untuk tujuan seperti membeli-belah, berlibur, bersiar-siar dan percutian”.
